Aluminum Tray Press Erection and Installation
Solid Hook installed a newly delivered aluminum food container press at a manufacturing facility in Brampton, Ontario. The 24,000-lb press arrived crated and laid horizontally, but low ceiling clearance and a short entry door prevented the machine from being erected outside the building. Our team engineered a controlled lift solution to safely stand the machine upright inside the facility and complete installation in just four hours.

Project Overview
Solid Hook was contracted to install a newly delivered aluminum container press for a food packaging manufacturer in Brampton, Ontario. The press weighed approximately 24,000 pounds and arrived from the manufacturer packaged horizontally inside a shipping crate to accommodate transport requirements.
Once delivered, the installation presented an immediate challenge. The facility had limited ceiling clearance and a short access door, making it impossible to erect the machine outside and move it into the building in a vertical position. The press had to be brought inside while still laying down and then carefully stood upright within the facility.
Several contractors had declined the project due to the structural limitations and complexity of erecting the machine indoors. After reviewing the site conditions, Solid Hook developed a controlled rigging plan that would allow the press to be raised safely using dual Versa-Lift forklifts operating in coordination.
To create the necessary clearance for the lift, a small section of roof support framing was temporarily removed. This opening allowed the rigging team to carefully stand the machine upright without damaging the building or equipment.
Once the press was safely erected, it was moved into position according to the plant layout. The removed structural section was then welded back into place, restoring the integrity of the building structure. The entire installation was completed in just four hours, allowing the customer to immediately proceed with commissioning.
The Challenge
• Machine arrived crated and laying horizontally • Low ceiling clearance inside the facility • Short entry door prevented outside erection • Limited structural clearance for lifting operations • Multiple contractors declined the installation
Our Solution
• Conducted detailed site review and lift planning • Deployed two Versa-Lift forklifts for controlled lifting • Temporarily removed a small roof support section to create clearance • Carefully erected the press inside the facility using coordinated lifts • Restored structural support after installation
Results
The aluminum container press was safely erected and positioned within the facility in just four hours. Solid Hook successfully completed an installation that other contractors had declined due to structural limitations. The machine was installed according to the plant layout, allowing the customer to proceed immediately with commissioning and production preparation without delays or structural damage.
